Challenge Project for The Glass Onion - an Appleton Bead store

After purchasing the raw silk, the rules were to use beads....this is what I created.  Voting will be at the beginning of August and can be done on Facebook, via email or in person at the store.

Summer 2013

The summer is flying by and I finally am adding some new pictures.  I had a chance to participate in Gallery Night at NWTC in April and a photographer that was there took some pictures of my work.

Beaded Snowflakes

Here are some of the beaded ornaments I have made to give as gifts this holiday season.

"Cami"-flouge Bracelet

My friend Cami who works at Rocks of Ages in Luxemburg is so very talented.  She assisted me with the photography and layout of my bio page for an art show I am participating in at NWTC.  Since she wasn't willing to let me pay her for her time and talents, I produced this bracelet for her.  Cami loves to hunt!

NWTC Class projects

I will be starting another 8 week session of jewelry making at NWTC on October 10, 2012.  Here are a few of the projects we will be making in class.

New items

Here are some new items I've made recently.    The multi-colored necklace is made with the new twin hole seed beads. 

Hand Painted Silk Scarves

These are the new silk scarves that I have started painting.  I plan to make bead tubes for some of them.  I am selling the scarves for $25 each.  With a bead tube, they will sell for $40 each.

After starting to make beaded tubes for scarves last summer, I decided to try a new design.  This shorter tube has a pendant that accents the scarf. 

This is a new item I started to make a few weeks ago after my friend Connie shared her wire and bead book with me.  The dragonfly hair clips are on a bobby pin and are selling for $5 each.   Sales have been good on these at the farm market.

The dress is from the "Oh My Gauze" line that is carried at The Funky Zebra in Fish Creek.  The owner, Cindy Gavin, has purchased jewelry and many beaded scarves from me.  She asked me to embellish this dress with needle felting and beads.

After taking a class at Rocks of Ages with my friend Mary, these are some of the dragon flies I created.  The blue and yellow on is a necklace and the other is a pin.  I have put together kits to make these with my crafting group at our July get together.  Working is wire is new for me, but I plan to continue to try new items.

I created this bracelet for a gentleman who was looking for something 'less feminine'.  He was at the farm market looking at my items and after talking with him, this is the special request I created for him.

New projects

I had some time over Christmas break to make some new necklaces.

Tila Beads

This bracelet is made with 2 hole Tila Beads (the ones that are clear in the picture).  I purchased some a year ago and recently found some fun patterns to use them with. 

Ornaments

Monday night at my craft group, one of the quilters shared a new ornament pattern with us.  We each got one finished and I decided I needed to make some more.  I have completed these and am giving them as a Christmas gift to another crafter friend who loves buttons.

Crystals!

Here is one of the bracelets I made using a right-angle weave.  The top is made of 4 mm bicone crystals and the bottom is made with size 8 seed beads.  I chose a magnetic clasp for this bracelet.

Beaded Scarf Tubes

 This summer I began making beaded tubes that have a scarf slid through them.  There is an adapter on the end that allows the scarf to be pulled through to keep a bow in place without having to tie it.  The scarf can be worn as a bow, with the beaded part in front to look like a necklace and the ends draped forward or it can be worn in the hair as a head band with the scarf either trailing behind or in a bow on the top of your head.  Your creativity is the only limit to how to wear this enhanced scarf.

Best Seller

I have found that these 'daisy chain' bracelets are a great seller at the farm market.  I have them available for $12 or 2 for $20.  Here are some of the colors and patterns I created on my Minnesota vacation.

My first Felted Bracelet

Another idea from the Minnesota trip was to do beaded embroidery combined with needle felting.  This is my first attempt at this process.
